Cut back to central park.
Pacey has a blindfold around his eyes, as Andie is leading him around.
PACEY: You’re not just directing me towards the Hudson, are you?
Andie laughs.
ANDIE: It’s a surprise, Pacey.
PACEY: You’re just full of surprises, ain’t you McPhee? Well, all I’m saying is that, if I go for a swim, I’m taking you with me.
ANDIE: Do you really think I’d push you in the Hudson River?
PACEY: Yes.
She rolls her eyes.
ANDIE: All right, we’re here.
Pacey pulls off the blindfold.
Sitting right in front of him is an old-fashioned horse-drawn carriage, complete with driver.
PACEY: I don’t believe it.
He turns to Andie, who smiles at him.
ANDIE: Didn’t you always want to two of us to come here and take a carriage-ride through central park?
PACEY: Yeah, but I was planning to surprise you with it.
ANDIE: True. But remember, Pacey, this is the 21st century. Equal rights and all that.
PACEY: As long as I still get to cuddle up next to you, I’m not complaining.
Pacey climbs in inside. He offers Andie his hand, and pulls her up next to him. The horses start to walk, as Pacey and Andie sit next to each other.
PACEY: (whispering) I love you.
Andie cuddles up next to him.
ANDIE: I know.
PACEY: Sometimes it feels like I don’t say it enough. I do, but I’m worried that it doesn’t come across like it means as much as I want it to mean. I don’t want you to think I take you for granted, even if it seems like that when I’m complaining about my ex-girlfriend to you.
Andie touches the side of his face.
ANDIE: It’s ok, Pacey.
He smiles.
ANDIE: I love you too…and hopefully it means what I want it to mean.
Pacey smirks.
PACEY: Driver, take us around a few times.
*****
Cut to the studio. The show is done, and the camera crew are packing up.
Dawson and Joey are in the corner, talking with Jen.
JEN: Thank you, Dawson, for one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.
DAWSON: What, you don’t want to be on TV?
Joey half-smiles.
JOEY: Hey, I have half the country knowing about my life now. You have it easy.
Jen hugs her, then Dawson.
JEN: Good luck.
They leave.
*****
Outside the studio…
DAWSON: So?
JOEY: So what?
DAWSON: How do you feel about your first brush with fame?
Joey laughs.
JOEY: Mmmm…I don’t know. They talked about you most of the time.
DAWSON: You got quite a focus when you blurted you that you yourself were the inspiration.
She looks at him.
JOEY: You upset about that?
He smirks.
DAWSON: Not a chance.
They kiss.
JOEY: Just wait until my movie blows yours out of the water.
Dawson raises an eyebrow.
DAWSON: ‘Your movie’?
JOEY: Mm-hmm!
Dawson sighs.
DAWSON: I’ve created a monster.
She laughs again.
A moment later, Pacey and Andie come dancing down the street…literally.
PACEY: (singing) Start spreading the news.
Andie hums the melody.
PACEY: (singing) I’m leaving today. I wanna be a part of it…New York, New York!
He ‘dips’ her, while Dawson and Joey watch.
DAWSON: Well, somebody had fun.
PACEY: Hey man. How’d it go?
DAWSON: You weren’t watching?
PACEY: I was somewhat preoccupied.
JOEY: You were mentioned.
Pacey grins.
PACEY: I do believe this calls for a celebration. Who’s up for a good old-fashioned New York pizza?
The others seems in agreement. The four of them start walking down the street.
ANDIE: So, what do you think of the celebrity life now, Joey?
JOEY: I think I could get used to it.
DAWSON: I always knew you were a stay
JOEY: Flatterer.
PACEY: Doug’s bi, by the way.
Dawson, Joey, and Andie all stare at him.
DAWSON: What? Do you mean?
PACEY: Yep.
JOEY: Good lord, Pacey was right. A sure sign of the apocalypse.
PACEY: Technically, I was only half-right
ANDIE: We have something in common.
DAWSON: Somehow I don’t think both having siblings with different lifestyles counts as ‘something in common’.
PACEY: Let me have my moment here, Lerry!
DAWSON: Just as long as you’re paying for the pizza, Petey!
PACEY: Don’t make me hurt you!
They laugh.
