Cut to a book store, somewhere in Boston. Joey is sitting at a table, where a small line-up of people are waiting to get books signed.

She covers her face in embarrassment when she sees the next person in line.

JOEY: Oh lord…

PACEY: You know who to make it out to, right?

She smirks.

JOEY: You actually read it already? It’s only been out a week.

PACEY: A few chapters. I’m a busy man, you know?

She signs it.

JOEY: I thought you hated reading.

PACEY: Not when a pal of mine’s writing it. Seriously, congratulations.

JOEY: I should be congratulating you. What, with the movie doing so well.

PACEY: (grumbling) Ebert doesn’t seem to think so.

JOEY: Who cares what he thinks.

PACEY: Your boyfriend doesn’t, that’s for sure. After Dawson read his review, he called him…well…quite a few words that I didn’t even understand.

Joey laughs.

Pacey takes off. He starts to walk out, but Dawson comes out of nowhere and grabs his shoulder.

DAWSON: Hey, Pace…check this out!

He holds up a newspaper for Pacey to see.

Pacey sighs.

PACEY: You know you have to pay for those, right?

DAWSON: Just look. ‘In The Creek, Leery has crafted an entire world responding to his own rules of how things work. It reads like a modern-day fairy tale, but unlike the usual teen dramas, the character’s flaws endear …’

CASHIER: Hey, kid! This ain’t a library!

Pacey sighs again, and pays the woman for the newspaper.

PACEY: Yeah, so what’s this mean anyway?

Dawson smiles.

DAWSON: We won. It’s a complete success, Pace! First place box office for two weeks in a row, and we may even see international…

PACEY: In English, please!

DAWSON: We’re turning a profit.

Pacey’s eyes bulge out.

PACEY: As in actual money?

DAWSON: Remember what we did to make this thing?

PACEY: Do I? I ran all over Capeside to get the resources.

DAWSON: We worked on almost no budget. We don’t even have to break even, Pace! We started even!

Pacey raises an eyebrow, intrigued.

PACEY: How much money we talking about?

DAWSON: A few million so far. But we’ll still have to pay Todd back, and then Harley and Patrick and Elliot get their cut, of course…

PACEY: Dollars? We’re talking dollars?

Dawson nods.

PACEY: WHOOOOO-HOOOOOO!

THEME SONG BEGINS

Pacey hugs him enthusiastically. After a moment, he lets go, trying to regain his composure.

PACEY: So…we’re rich?

DAWSON: And famous.

PACEY: Pinch me, I’m dreaming.
