Cut to the cabin by the lake.

Pacey practically forces the front door closed, struggling against the wind. When he finally shuts it, he takes a deep breath and leans against it.

PACEY: Don’t go out there, folks.

Sitting on the couch are Dawson, Joey, Jen, Jack, Andie, Audrey, and Chris. They all look at Pacey, expecting an answer.

JACK: How bad is it?

PACEY: I think I saw a cow fly by. Sorry, Jack…we’re stuck here for the time being.

Pacey sits down. A series of groans are heard around him.

PACEY: Don’t blame me. I don’t control the weather.

DAWSON: I wouldn’t worry about it. Bessie’s wedding isn’t for another week. I’m sure they won’t mind if we’re a day late

ANDIE: Anyone wanna play Monopoly?

Andie receives awkward glances from everyone.

ANDIE: …or not?

JEN: Well, TV’s out, so I really don’t see any other options.

Audrey groans.

AUDREY: This is so boring.

Joey looks over at Jen.

JOEY: Unlike the last time we were all stuck indoors during a storm, huh?

Jen laughs.

Pacey sighs.

PACEY: And to think…I’d just blocked that memory out.

Curious now, Audrey looks at the three of them intently.

AUDREY: Huh? What happened? Come on! Tell me! Not like we’ve got anything else to do right now.

A smirk appears on Dawson face.

DAWSON: What the heck…

Everyone sits in a circle on the carpet, as Dawson starts to recount his story.

DAWSON: Well, the whole thing started near the end of sophomore year in high school…

*****

Cut to Dawson’s room, several years ago.

Dawson is lying on his bed, with the VCR remote in his hand. Playing on the TV is his movie, ‘Creek Days’.

A moment later, the window slides open. Joey climbs inside.

JOEY: You know there’s only so many times you can watch your own movie before it becomes an obsession.

DAWSON: I’m trying to see where I went wrong.

Joey sighs, sitting next to him. He shuts off the tape.

DAWSON: You weren’t there, Jo. Miss Kennedy, she…she completely tore through it without remorse. Sorry, kid…everything to film is an utter waste and you should quit while the quiting’s good.

JOEY: Come on, I’m sure she didn’t say that.

DAWSON: It was implied.

Joey wraps her arms around his neck and kisses him.

JOEY: (mockingly) You need a hug?

He smirks.

DAWSON: Sorry. It’s just…I can’t help but feel this is my mortal enemy I’ve encountered. Not only is she screwing up my professional life, by my home life as well.

JOEY: You talk to your dad about it yet?

DAWSON: I’m working on it.

They pause for a moment.

DAWSON: Speaking of dads…

Joey groans.

JOEY: Here it comes…

Dawson chuckles.

DAWSON: Sorry. It just takes some getting used to. Him being back in Capeside after everything that’s happened. I’m going to have to be more discreet coming over to your place from now on.

JOEY: It’s my father, Dawson…not Mrs. Ryan.

THEME SONG BEGINS

DAWSON: How about no more parent talk? Deal?

JOEY: Deal. So…what do you want to talk about?

He inches closer to her.

DAWSON: Well, I was kind of hoping we wouldn’t be talking at all.

Joey raises an eyebrow.

JOEY: Dawson Leery? Not talking? Did hell freeze over or something?

He laughs. The two of them begin to make out.

A moment later, the door to his room opens. Gale walks in, and gasps when she sees what’s happening inside.

GALE: Oh my…

They break apart.

DAWSON: MOM! Uh…

Joey laughs nervously.

JOEY: We were just, uh…you know…

DAWSON: Heh.
