Cut to the cabin.

Audrey is putting clothes away in one of the drawers, humming to herself. Chris stands in the doorframe, looking at her.

CHRIS: Hey, I got a question.

AUDREY: Hmm?

CHRIS: Who’s sleeping where?

She walks towards him.

AUDREY: Well, you’re sleeping with me. Andie’s sleeping with Pacey. Dawson’s sleeping with Joey…

CHRIS: And when you say ‘sleeping with’, do you mean it in the cuddly nine-year-old fashion?

She puts her arms around his neck and kisses him.

AUDREY: …and Jen is sleeping with Jack, so ‘no’.

Chris scoffs.

CHRIS: Come on. If anyone could turn the guy…

Audrey raises an eyebrow.

AUDREY: You speaking from experience?

CHRIS: Why? You jealous?

She grins.

AUDREY: Maybe a little.

They kiss again.

Suddenly, the front door opens, as the two of them break apart.

AUDREY: They’re back!

The two of them run into the living room to see Dawson, Joey, and Jen walk inside. Audrey hugs Jen and Joey in turn.

AUDREY: Welcome to my humble abode. How’s the beach?

DAWSON: Sandy. Everyone here?

CHRIS: Pacey and Andie went for a swim, so naturally Jack took off to get some grub with Todd and Eddie.

JOEY: Wait…Eddie’s staying here?

AUDREY: Yes and no. They booked a hotel near the beach. Something about ‘being where the action is’.

Jen gives Dawson a ‘I told you so’ look. He simply sighs.

JEN: Just hope he remembers the smores.

JOEY: Bonfire?

AUDREY: Hell yeah!

*****

Cut to the front of the cabin. A jeep pulls up front, as Jack steps out with a sack of groceries.

He heads towards the front door, when something else gets his attention. Splashing around out in the water.

He puts his bag down on the porch and goes to investigate.

TODD: You coming, kid?

JACK: In a minute.

He takes a closer look. Sure enough, Pacey and Andie are out there, splashing around. Pacey lifts Andie up on his shoulders.

PACEY: Cap’n…we’re going down…

ANDIE: Oh, don’t you dare Pacey!

Pacey falls backwards, causing Andie to tumble into the water, screaming. The two of them laugh.

Jack continues to watch them, unaware that Jen has walked up behind him.

JEN: It’s so sweet it’s sickening.

Jack scoffs.

JACK: You can say that again.

They’re silent for another moment.

JACK: I’m just wondering how I’m going to convince Andie just how rotten he is.

Jen sighs. She pulls a box of cereal out of Jack’s grocery bag and whacks him upside the head with it.

JACK: HEY! What was that for?

JEN: For being an idiot!

JACK: Come on, Jen!

JEN: Look around you, Jack. No one seems to have a problem with Pacey except you.

He grumbles.

JACK: (muttering) Yeah…today.

JEN: Oh, so how about that year your frat buddies were so much more important than your friends. You were just an angel then, weren’t you?

JACK: I never endangered someone’s life.

JEN: What about your own?

Jack winces.

JACK: You knew about that?

JEN: Dawson told me how he fished you out of that swimming pool, stone drunk.

He sighs, lowering his gaze.

JACK: I just…I don’t want anything like that happening to Andie is all.

Jen’s expression softens. They look at Pacey and Andie again.

PACEY: McPhee…what are you doing?

Grinning evilly, Andie shoves Pacey’s head under the water, laughing.

PACEY: No fair…no fair!

Jen smiles, and then looks at Jack.

JEN: She’s happy. Isn’t that enough?

JACK: It’s never enough. Not when she chooses him over me.

He goes back inside, as Jen continues to watch the two lovebirds from a distance.

*****

Cut to inside the cabin.

Joey is unpacking when Dawson goes in their room. He looks around, taking everything in.

DAWSON: Is it going to be weird again this time?

She looks up.

JOEY: Is what?

DAWSON: You know? Sleeping together in a foreign bed?

She half-smiles.

JOEY: Nah. We’re on vacation. Roughing it.

DAWSON: Doesn’t that require sleeping under the stars?

Joey scoffs.

JOEY: No way! I’d go nuts without a comfy pillow and closed windows. Especially among the snakes, and the bugs, and the bears, and the…things…

Dawson rolls his eyes.

DAWSON: You are such a baby!

JOEY: What? Like you could survive without your DVD player?

A smirk appears on Dawson’s face.

JOEY: What? What’s so funny?

DAWSON: I’ll tell you later.

Joey continues unpacking.

JOEY: We needed this, you know. Time away from everything. After everything that happened with Rich and Jack, we could use some relaxation.

DAWSON: Yeah, small problem though. Jack’s still mad at Pacey.

Joey sighs.

JOEY: Can’t you, like, lock him in a tower or something?

DAWSON: Jen’s working on him. Let’s not worry about that, ok?

Dawson walks up behind her, snaking his arms under hers, joining them around her mid-section.

DAWSON: Let’s just concentrate on us.

Joey tilts her head back and kisses him.

JOEY: Music to my ears.

*****

Cut to outside, several hours later. Pacey is loading some lawn chairs into the back of the jeep, while the others exit the cabin.

JEN: Uh, Jack…maybe you’d better load the cooler or something?

JACK: Can’t Pacey do it?

Jen gives him a warning look. Reluctantly, he picks up the cooler.

PACEY: Jack.

JACK: Pacey.

They continue loading the jeep.

PACEY: Listen, we’ve gotta talk.

JACK: I don’t have anything to say to you, Pacey. At least nothing you haven’t already heard.

PACEY: I’m trying to be nice, ok?

JACK: Well, good. At least one of us is.

Pacey sighs.

PACEY: I’m not asking you to like me, man. But at the very least we should try to be civil to one another, ok? We’re going to be living together for the next week or so, and I don’t think anyone will appreciate it if we tear each other apart.

JACK: I agree. So just stay out of my way.

Jack climbs into the jeep. Pacey sighs.

PACEY: Ah, spring break. Fun, fun, fun!

Pacey takes his seat.
