Cut to Capeside.

We open outside the Leery house, as the camera slowly pans towards the window. A single light is on, indicating that the TV is running.

Inside the bedroom…

PACEY: You know, you have to understand the guy’s mindset. He thinks he’s just seen the woman he loves blown to bits, so obviously he’s not thinking clearly, right?

Next to him, Andie sighs.

ANDIE: Pacey?

PACEY: Right…enough ‘Raiders’ for tonight. What you wanna watch?

ANDIE: Nothing. Can we just go home?

Pacey shakes his head.

PACEY: We’ve been over this, Andie. It’s not safe in Boston right now. We’ll just have to stay here until this whole thing dies down.

ANDIE: Or he comes looking for us?

Pacey bites his lip. Before he can respond, however, the bedroom door opens. Dawson enters, a file folder in hand.

ANDIE: Hey, Dawson.

DAWSON: Hey. You two doing ok?

PACEY: Yeah. That what I think it is?

Dawson hands him the pages.

ANDIE: What’s that for?

DAWSON: Just some manufacturing stuff. We’re going to have to mass-produce a few copies of ‘The Creek’ if we want it showing in multiple locations. Reminds me…we need to edit a promo together.

PACEY: Promo?

DAWSON: A preview. You know…like they have for television shows?

PACEY: You mean the ones that are completely misleading?

Dawson chuckles.

ANDIE: I’m going to go talk to Mrs. Leery.

Andie heads towards the door, stopping a moment to talk to Dawson.

ANDIE: (whispering) Talk to him. Please!

DAWSON: (whispering) I’ll do my best.

Andie heads downstairs, while Dawson takes his seat next to Pacey.

DAWSON: Exactly how long do you intend to stay here, Pace?

PACEY: As long as I have to. Besides, you don’t live here anymore, Dawson. I’m not imposing.

DAWSON: Never said you were. It’s just…you can’t hide forever. Maybe it’s just a misunderstanding?

Pacey looks at Dawson with a serious expression.

PACEY: Rich all but admitted he planted that car bomb, Dawson. That kid died because Rich had it in for me.

DAWSON: I believe you, Pacey. But I don’t think running away is going to solve anything.

PACEY: If he can’t find me, no one else gets hurt.

Dawson sighs.

DAWSON: Is there anything I can do?

Pacey shakes his head.

PACEY: I appreciate the offer, but I’ll handle it myself when the time comes. I don’t care how hard I gotta fight…this guy’s going down.

THEME SONG BEGINS

Dawson gets up and heads towards the door.

DAWSON: Fair enough. Just remember one thing, though.

PACEY: What’s that?

He pauses.

DAWSON: The more people you push away, the harder you’re going to have to fight.

Dawson leaves, as Pacey turns the TV back on.
