Cut Joey’s room.

She sits in front of the computer and starts to type.

This is for all you girls about 13
High school can be so rough
Can be so mean

She smiles, as her fingers glide across the keyboard.

Hold onto,
onto your innocence

It obvious to all that she’s in the midst of creating something.

Stand your ground
when everybody's giving in

This one's for the girls!

A montage of scenes shows her continuing to work through the hours, never stopping. Almost as if she needs to get all her ideas on page as soon as they come to her.

This is for all you girls about 25
In little apartments
just trying to get by

Finally, it’s done. She prints out the entire chapter, looking it over.

Living on,
on dreams and spaghettios
Wondering where
your life is gonna go

Joey Potter appears prouder of herself than she’s ever been before.

This one's for the girls
Who've ever had a broken heart
Who've wished upon a shooting star
You're beautiful the way you are

*****

Cut back to Creek Side pictures.

This one's for the girls
Who love without holding back

Dawson, finishing a can of coke, wanders over to the table. He sees the letter from earlier.

DAWSON: Might as well…

Who dream with everything they have
All around the world

He opens it.

*****

Cut to Hetson’s classroom.

This one's for the girls

Joey walks up to Hetson’s desk, and drops the manuscript on it. It reads ‘Chapter 1’.

This is for all you girls about 42

He looks up at her a smiles.

HETSON: That was fast.

Tossing pennies into
the fountain of youth

JOEY: Could you try and mark it today. There’s someone else I want to show it to.

*****

Cut back to the house.

The empty envelope slowly falls to the ground as light as a feather.

Every laugh,
laugh line on your face

Dawson’s face is an image of utter shock. The letter itself rests loosely in his hand.

Slowly, almost like magic, it changes from shock to amazement. Then to outright jubilation.

Made you who
you are
today.

He giggles, then runs upstairs. He swings Pacey’s bedroom door open.

DAWSON: WE DID IT!

This one's for the girls
Who've ever had a broken heart

Pacey springs up out of bed.

PACEY: Wha? Do what? What’d we do?

Who've wished upon a shooting star
You're beautiful the way you are

Dawson reads the letter out loud.

DAWSON: “Mr. Leery. This letter is regarding your film ‘The Creek’, submitted to the Sundance Film Festival. Congratulations on a great showing. We are happy to inform you that, after a thorough review of said film, it has passed all qualifications…”

PACEY: What the hell does that mean?

Dawson grins

This one's for the girls
Who love without holding back
Who dream with everything they have

DAWSON: It means it’s going to theatres.

Pacey gasps.

PACEY: No way!

Pacey cheers, and the two guys hug.

They break apart, shifting awkwardly.

All around the world
This one's for the girls

DAWSON: Oh man…I gotta tell Joey!

Dawson takes off running.

*****

He runs towards Worthington University.

As he arrives on campus, seeing Joey walking out the front. He smiles, and walks up to her.

Yeah we're all the same inside
From 1 to 99

DAWSON: Hey, pretty lady.

Joey half-smiles at him.

This one's for the girls

JOEY: As I recall, we’re kinda fighting.

DAWSON: Can’t we just bypass that part this time and get to the make-up?

JOEY: This time.

He grins.

Who've ever had a broken heart
Who've wished upon a shooting star
You're beautiful the way you are

DAWSON: Joey, I’ve got great news…

Joey puts up her hand.

JOEY: Wait…before you say anything…I have to know something.

He looks at her, curious.

DAWSON: What?

This one's for the girls

JOEY: Were you serious earlier? About that story making a good movie?

He thinks for a moment.

DAWSON: Yeah. I mean, it’d have to be extended a little longer, but the plot is…

Joey pulls out her assignment.

JOEY: How’s 22 chapters?

Dawson’s eyes go wide.

DAWSON: Wait…are you saying you want to…?

She smiles.

JOEY: I write it, you direct it. Unless, of course, you’re afraid of being upstaged by your girlfriend?

Dawson smiles, completely in awe.

DAWSON: God, I love you.

Who love without holding back
Who dream with everything they have

JOEY: So, what’s this good news?

Dawson hands her the letter. She reads it, then gasps.

JOEY: Oh my god!

She hugs him tightly.

JOEY: I knew it…I just knew it.

All around the world, yeah
This one's for the girls

DAWSON: So…how do you feel about a ‘rising star’ adapting your work for film?

She kisses him.

JOEY: (imitating Humphrey Bogart) Dawson, this looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

He laughs.

The two of them sit down under a tree, as Dawson starts to flip through the first chapter.

JOEY: So, what do you think? Am I as good as you?

Dawson smiles at her.

DAWSON: Better.

The camera pans away.

Yeah, This one's for the girls
