Cut to a clothing store. Dawson and Joey are walking down one of the aisles.
Suddenly, Dawson stops and looks at a red dress.
DAWSON: How about this one? It’s nice, right?
Joey looks back at him, raising an eyebrow.
JOEY: ‘Nice’?
DAWSON: Decent? Cute? Sexy?
Joey sighs.
JOEY: Dawson, you agreeing to come shopping with me was weird enough. But actually being enthusiastic about it is downright creepy.
DAWSON: Ok, I’m sorry. I’m just a nervous wreck about the whole thing.
They exit the aisle.
JOEY: Why? You’ve been to film festivals before, right?
DAWSON: In Boston and New Hampsure. This is Utah. The Sundance Film Festival. Directors and stars from all over the world are going to be there! Heck, Spielberg himself…
JOEY: Say no more. So you’re stressed out. Still doesn’t explain why you’re helping me pick out an outfit.
Dawson bites his lip.
DAWSON: I don’t wanna sound shallow…
Joey shakes her head.
JOEY: Never thought I’d see the day when Dawson Leery thought of a girl as ‘arm candy’.
DAWSON: I don’t. I just…there’s going to be news crews there, right? Entertainment Tonight and the like. We’re going to get our picture taken probably. I just want everybody to know that I have the best girl in the room.
Joey smiles at him.
PACEY: Correction, partner…second-best!
They turn around to see Pacey and Andie. Andie spins around, trying out a sparkled blue dress.
ANDIE: It’s nice, isn’t it?
Joey turns to Dawson and smirks.
ANDIE: I was thinking that, since there’s going to be so many stars there, I might as well look like a ‘star’ myself? Get it?
Pacey growls, causing her to blush.
JOEY: So this is what it’s like being in Hollywood, huh?
PACEY: Not quite…
Pacey produces six plane tickets from his jacket pocket.
PACEY: Coach seats. We’re still scrimping and saving, remember?
JOEY: As long as I don’t have to sit down in cargo, it’s fine by me.
Andie rubs her hands in anticipation.
ANDIE: This is going to be so cool! Just think, us rubbing elbows with the rich and famous?
DAWSON: Thank you, Robin Leech!
They laugh.
DAWSON: I can’t thank you guys enough for coming along to support me on this.
PACEY: It’s kinda our jobs, Dawson.
JOEY: Wouldn’t be that great a girlfriend if I didn’t.
Dawson turns to her.
DAWSON: Sure you’ll be ok missing class?
JOEY: Hetson’s making me write up a report on it. Consider me your own personal reporter.
Dawson grins.
DAWSON: Why, thank you Lois…
He puts his arms around her.
Pacey groans, and rolls his eyes.
PACEY: Do I have to listen to this mush?
Cut to several minutes later. Andie’s now dressed in normal clothes, with a bag over her shoulder as the four of them appear outside the store.
PACEY: You ready?
DAWSON: As ready as I’ll ever be. When’s the flight leave?
PACEY: An hour.
Dawson smiles.
DAWSON: Let’s go!
The four of them walk down the street, side-by-side.
