Cut to Harley’s room. Joey slowly opens the door.

She sees Harley inside, on the bed, crying.

HARLEY: (sniffing) Go away!

JOEY: Sorry, can’t do that.

She pauses.

JOEY: Look, I know it feels bad right now, but…

HARLEY: Oh, spare me the speeches, Joey! I’m really not in the mood right now.

Joey looks at her sadly.

JOEY: (whispers) I know. This isn’t…he just needs to…he wants to find himself.

HARLEY: I know. He told me. Now I’m just supposed to accept it?

JOEY: That's the thing...you don't have to! It's just...oh god, what is it?

HARLEY: It's stupid!

Joey nods

JOEY: Yeah...yeah it is. Really, what can you do apart that you can't do together? Because you want to figure things out? Because you want to 'find yourself'? It's not really that at all, is it? It's about fear.

HARLEY: Fear?

Joey smiles, no longer just talking to Harley. Now she’s talking to herself.

JOEY: Fear of moving on, fear of growing up. When you're fifteen, you're still a kid. No matter how mature you think you are. Something this serious can feel pretty overwhelming, can't it?

Harley nods, sadly.

JOEY: Maybe it really doesn't have to be that way? It's like that movie...there's nothing in this world you're forced to do. Nothing you have to do. Only what you choose to do. I get that now.

Joey hugs her, holding the younger girl tightly.

JOEY: It'll be ok, Harley

Harley sniffs.

HARLEY: How do you know?

JOEY: Simple. If you and him are truly meant to be together, you'll find your way back. It's that simple.

She looks at her.

HARLEY: Really?

Joey nods

JOEY: Really. One day, you're going to grow up. You may not realize it when it happens, but when it does you'll know. And you'll have someone who's ready for that kind of seriousness. And who knows...he might even end up being your best friend.

Harley smiles

HARLEY: Thank you.

They hug again.

JOEY: No...thank you.

*****

Cut to Joey and Audrey’s dorm room, morning. The rays of the sun gently shine through the blinds.

In bed, Audrey slowly opens her eyes. She smiles as she feels an arm draped around her.

AUDREY: Morning.

Chris leans over and kisses her.

CHRIS: Morning.

They continue kissing.

CHRIS: This is different.

AUDREY: What is?

CHRIS: Well, traditionally I’ve been up and gone before the girl is…this is a new experience for me. It’s a good experience.

Audrey grins.

AUDREY: Nice to know I rocked your world.

CHRIS: Oh yeah…

They kiss again.

AUDREY: Oh no…

Chris looks at her, concerned.

CHRIS: Oh no? What’s wrong?

AUDREY: I forgot the scrunchy.

He raises an eyebrow.

CHRIS: Scrunchy?

AUDREY: The hair thing I put on the door to let Joey know not to come in here. We’re lucky she didn’t see us. Oh god…maybe she did.

CHRIS: Doubt it. We would have heard the screech.

Chris climbs out of bed and heads towards the door. He grabs the scrunchy off a table and opens the door. Quickly, he places it on the doorknob.

AUDREY: What are you doing?

He smirks.

CHRIS: Letting Joey know not to come in here.

Audrey seems confused for a moment, but then realizes his intentions. She gives him a seductive smile.

Chris leaps back on the bed, as Audrey giggles. They begin to kiss again.

*****

Cut back to the house. Dawson opens the door, walking inside.

DAWSON: Pacey? You still here?

He finally notices Pacey and Andie curled up on the couch together. He smiles at how cute it is.

DAWSON: A hallmark moment if I’ve ever seen one.

Pacey’s eyes snap open, as he sees Dawson looking down on them.

He nudges his girlfriend.

PACEY: Hey, Andie?

ANDIE: Hmm?

Andie wakes up, and gasps.

ANDIE: Don’t sneak up on people like that!

Dawson chuckles.

ANDIE: Paperwork’s on the table. Complete, by the way.

DAWSON: Great. It’s wasn’t any trouble, was it? I mean, I know you two were supposed to…

Pacey gets up.

PACEY: No harm done, Dawson.

ANDIE: I’m gonna go freshen up.

With that, Andie heads upstairs. Dawson places a tape in the VCR and sits down.

PACEY: What’s that?

DAWSON: This is what’s going to decide our future, Pacey. The movie for the film festival.

Pacey raises an eyebrow in confusion.

PACEY: I thought you had a few more scenes to film.

DAWSON: Yes, which is why we couldn’t use Oliver’s movie. However, we could use this one.

HARLEY: (on-screen) God, I love this movie. This won the Oscar, didn’t it?

Pacey’s eyes go wide.

PACEY: This movie? They liked it?

DAWSON: They loved it.

Pacey took a deep breath.

PACEY: Man! So let me get this straight? Our futures completely depend on whether or not our pasts appeal to a large audience? Whether or not you make it big all depends on your own autobiography. Do you realize how those odds sound, Dawson?

DAWSON: It has a chance. I know it sounds crazy Pace, but I put everything I had into last summer. Every thought and feeling and hope and dream I remember from the first three months of high school right there on film. This isn’t me trying to tell Oliver’s story, this is just me. Every iota of talent I have. If I’m truly good enough to make it as a filmmaker, this is what’s going to prove it.

Pacey sighs.

PACEY: Tamara is so gonna kill me if this thing makes the theatres.

Dawson smirks at him.

PACEY: You don’t even got a name for it yet, dude.

DAWSON: I do now. ‘Creek’.

Pacey ponders it for a moment.

PACEY: Dawson’s Creek, eh?

DAWSON: Oh, please. Who do you take me for, Tim Burton? Let me get a few awards, then I can go by name recognition alone.

Pacey laughs.

DAWSON: You know, I’ve never actually watched this thing from start to finish? My own movie, and I’ve never seen it. I guess I was just afraid to.

PACEY: And now?

DAWSON: I through being afraid, Pacey. From this moment on, I’m meeting things head-on!

PACEY: Well, I’m proud of you.

Just then, Andie walks down the stairs.

PACEY: I gotta go, Dawson. Promised Andie I’d bring her to the movies. Gotta see the new Matrix.

ANDIE: If you want to come along…

Dawson shakes his head.

DAWSON: Nah, I’ve gotta do some filming at the warehouse later. Besides, I’m not third-wheel material. I’ll be fine.

PACEY: You sure?

He laughs.

DAWSON: Go!

Pacey and Andie leave, arm-in arm. Dawson leans back and continues watching the movie. Taking himself back in time, smiling, as the music begins

*****

All the things that we've been through
And all the things we didn't do

Cut to the side of the water. Joey stares out into space, bringing herself into the past.

The colours fade

She remembers watching Dawson dancing with Jen at the pier.

The seasons change

Then she remembers kissing him drunkenly at her home.

And all this time
I've waited here for you

She remembers them dancing at that wedding.

All the things that I should have done

Then walking away from him after her father went back to prison

And all the wars we've never won

Running away from him on the docks.

The stars will fall

She remembers placing a flower on her mother’s grave, with Dawson at her side.

The leaves will change

Then she remembers them hug after he gave her the money to go to Worthington.

My love for you
Will always be the same

As each memory passes by, Joey’s expression starts to change. From contemplative, to confused…to content. A smile slowly appears on her face, becoming wider with each passing second.

Joey,
My arms are open for you

She remembers crying into Dawson’s arms…

Joey,
You know that you are mine

…and her doing the same for him, only months earlier.

Joey,
You know that I adore you

Joey stands up, smiling, as she finally realizes the truth. The honest-to-god truth that she’s been hiding from for so long. What she wants. Who she wants

Joey girl,
Someday I'll make you mine

Without hesitation, she takes off running at full speed. Moving as fast as her legs can carry her.

*****

Cut to the warehouse. Dawson is setting up the cameras.

DAWSON: TWO MINUTES!

It seems to me
That I've been here once before

*****

Right outside, Joey reaches the warehouse. She races through the door.

She’s practically out of breath, but somehow still smiling. As if she’s empowered by some unknown energy.

Can't you see
That it's all worth fighting for?

Finally, she sees him by the cameras.

JOEY: Dawson? DAWSON?

You used to come in through my window

He turns around in surprise.

DAWSON: Joey?

But I can't wait here anymore…

He stares at her in concern. However, she simply sighs, smiles, and then walks over to him.

Joey girl...

DAWSON: What is it? What’s wrong?

She shakes her head.

JOEY: Nothing. Everything. Until now…until this very moment!

DAWSON: Jo, you’re not making sense.

JOEY: Yes I am! For the first time in years, everything makes perfect sense!

He puts his hand on her shoulder.

DAWSON: Can we talk about this later? I’ve got some filming to do, and…

JOEY: No! That’s how it always happens, isn’t it? We put it off until later, but it’s only another excuse to hide from it.

Dawson raises an eyebrow.

DAWSON: Hide from what?

She smiles.

JOEY: The truth. About us.

All that signs that I misread

DAWSON: I don’t understand…

JOEY: I’m saying I get it now! Why I do what I do. It’s not because of you and me…it never was! I…I want to reach people, the same way you do. I believe in the same things you do. I want the same things you do!

Dawson’s mouth hangs open, as he begins to understand.

DAWSON: (whispering) What are you saying?

All the things I should have said

JOEY: It’s obvious, isn’t it? You and me…we pat ourselves on the back for all our big words and speeches and ideas, but the one thing we can’t say is the one that matters most.

DAWSON: And what’s that?

JOEY: That we love each other.

They haunt me now

The one sentence hits Dawson with the impact of a missile. He looks as though he’s about to burst into tears. But before he has the chance…

But things will change

JOEY: (whispering) God, I love you so much…

My love for you
Will always stay the same

Joey kisses him, long and hard. She wraps her arms around his neck, holding him close.

After a moment’s hesitation, Dawson returns the embrace. Slowly, he eases into the kiss, as if not quite believing it.

Joey,
My arms are open for you

As the cast a crew watch one, they have various reactions. Some are ‘oooo’ing, some are annoyed, some think it’s cute. However, none of them are even noticed by the two lifelong best friends, as they’re enjoying something they’ve both waited forever for.

Joey,
You know that you are mine

The camera pans up.

Joey,
You know that I adore you

Joey girl,
Someday I'll make you mine

I'll make you mine...
